In May 2020, OceanMaster Engineering was awarded a research grant by the Enterprise SG to carry out a feasibility study into adopting Seawater Air-conditioning (SWAC) for offshore application. A design of the offshore variant, dubbed “OSWAC” was developed with R&D and naval architecture expertise from the Orcades Marine team. The technology envisioned was developed specifically for use in deepwaters of around 700m for FLNG, FPSO and floating offshore wind sector.
In addition, a techno-economic analysis was also carried out with positive outcome for targeted locations. The project was completed successfully in December 2021, with a provisional patent filed.
