Orcades Marine was engaged by OceanPixel to provide tow warranty for the towage of Envirotek’s floating tidal turbine platform and on-site advisory on its installation. The project was developed by Envirotek and executed by a consortium of companies and local university; OceanPixel, Lita Ocean, Schottel Hydro, Aquatera, Singapore Salvage Engineer, YJP Surveyors, Orcades Marine and Nanyang Technological University.
The project was first of its kind in Singapore, where a floating tidal turbine platform was design, constructed and installed locally as part of the demonstration of the local supply chain capabilities, as well as to raise awareness of tidal energy. The platform was also featured during site visits during the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW 2016), as part of the Asian Clean Energy Summit (ACES).
The platform was successfully deployed along the prominent Sentosa Island in Singapore in February of 2017.
